Q&A with Chris - Treasurer

Professional Background

  • Can you describe your career journey and what led you to your current position?

While attending Thomas College, I worked at Bangor Savings Bank and discovered a passion for finance—shifting my original focus from human resources. After graduation, I worked as a finance administrator for a local business, which gave me a solid foundation but lacked the client interaction I was looking for. A connection with a fellow alum led me to a role as a financial advisor at Edward Jones. After two years, I found my ideal fit at a franchise office with Ameriprise Financial, where I now help clients across the country reach their financial goals.

Involvement with KV Connect

  • Why did you decide to get involved with KV Connect?

I first got involved with KV Connect to build connections beyond college and get more involved in my local community, especially when it came to supporting small businesses. It was a way to grow professionally, helped me stay connected to what’s happening in the area, and allowed me to learn from other emerging professionals, share ideas, and play a role in strengthening our region.

Personal Connection & Local Pride

  • What’s your favorite local spot or hidden gem in the area?

As someone who loves being outdoors, I really appreciate the incredible trail systems we have in the area. There is the Quarry Road Trails, the Messalonskee Stream Trail—and my favorite—the Rotary Centennial Trail. I love these local gems that give me an opportunity to get out and enjoy nature without having to go far.

Personal Fun & Interests

  • What is one skill or hobby you picked up recently?

My mid/late twenties have been all about exploring new hobbies. While I’m still a beginner, they’ve given me more reasons to get outside and enjoy nature. Lately, I’ve been learning to snowboard, golf, and paddleboard—the latter being the easiest of the three. Learning new hobbies is a great way to challenge myself and avoid falling into a stagnant routine and still provides an opportunity to connect with people in a more relaxed way outside of work.

Advice & Inspiration

  • What advice would you give to other young professionals starting out in their careers?

Be open to unexpected opportunities—your career might take a different path than you planned, and that’s often where the most growth happens. Embrace being young or a “newbie.” People generally want to see you succeed and are willing to connect you with the right resources and opportunities to see you grow.
