Q&A with Jamie - Mid-Maine Chamber Board Liaison
Professional Background
- What industries have you worked in, and what excites you most about your field?
I spent the first 15 years of my career working in the financial services industry, but made the move back to Maine 5 years ago to join the family real estate business. What excites me most about my field is the opportunity to help businesses find the right locations and attract growth to the community, as well as support individuals through life transitions by guiding them in buying or selling their homes.
Involvement with KV Connect
- What’s your role on the steering committee?
My role on the steering committee is to serve as the liaison between KV Connect and the Mid-Maine Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors. I help keep our team aligned with the Chamber’s goals and provide support to ensure our initiatives are well-coordinated and impactful.
Personal Connection & Local Pride
- What’s your favorite local spot or hidden gem in the area?
One of my favorite local spots is Messalonskee Lake—it's a great place to relax and spend time with family and friends. I also love exploring everything Central Maine has to offer, from local trails to community events. You can often find me on Main Street, supporting local businesses, restaurants, and connecting with others.
Personal Fun & Interests
- What was your first job, and what did you learn from it?
My first job was scooping ice cream at Smiley's Ice Cream in Winslow, where I had the opportunity to engage with the community and work alongside friends. It taught me the value of teamwork, customer service, and the importance of creating a positive experience for others.
Advice & Inspiration
- What advice would you give to other young professionals starting out in their careers?
My advice to young professionals is to take opportunities as they come - even if they don't follow your original plan. Don't be afraid to say yes, trust your gut, and remember that no matter the field, we're all in the relationship business. Building connections and staying open can lead to unexpected and rewarding paths.
